Strategies Overview
The Strategies section in FlopHero is a dedicated GTO solver that lets you explore, analyze, and understand optimal play across a wide variety of poker situations.
Unlike the GTO Tracker, which reviews hands you’ve already played, this section allows you to create new scenarios from scratch and study how GTO would handle them before you sit down at the table.
What Is the Strategies Section?
The Strategies section is your main tool for deep poker study. It helps you:
- Explore GTO strategies and learn optimal plays for any situation
- Create custom scenarios to analyze specific spots
- Compare alternative lines and review EV differences between actions
- Build your intuition by observing consistent solver play patterns
The GTO Replayer, including The Table and The Matrix, connects directly to this section for consistent analysis across tools.

Use the Strategies section to explore optimal plays and study GTO solutions across various poker scenarios.
When to Use the Strategies Section
The Strategies section is ideal for:
- Pre-game warm-ups - review standard situations before playing
- Post-game analysis - solve tricky hands from your sessions
- Theory exploration - test new ideas or unconventional lines
- Leak finding - identify strategic gaps between your play and GTO solutions
For complementary insights, check the Reports section to identify weaknesses revealed by your tracked hands.
Types of Simulations You Can Run
You can choose from three simulation types, depending on your goal:
- Precision - Full solver accuracy for specific spots, using detailed game trees
- Expand - Faster, approximate solutions ideal for broader exploration
- Preflop Only - Focuses entirely on preflop decisions for quick setup and results
For a technical explanation of each, read Simulation Types.

Choose between different simulation types depending on your study goal and desired solver depth.
Key Features of the Strategies Section
You’ll use several integrated tools to customize and analyze simulations:
- Game Configuration - Set parameters such as stack sizes, positions, and bet sizes
- Syntax Search - Instantly locate specific hands or board textures
- The Table and The Matrix - Visualize solver actions and mixed frequencies for every spot
- Range Tab - Review each player’s GTO range and how it evolves through the hand
To learn how to set up custom games or variants, see Game Configuration.

Customize game parameters, view solver ranges, and analyze GTO frequencies through The Matrix and Range tabs.
How Strategies Differs from the GTO Tracker
Both the Strategies section and the GTO Tracker aim to improve your understanding of optimal play but serve distinct roles:
- GTO Tracker - Analyzes your real hands and highlights deviations from GTO
- Strategies - Solves new or hypothetical hands so you can understand why GTO plays a spot a certain way
Use the Tracker to find mistakes and the Strategies tool to study why they occurred and how to correct them.
For a detailed comparison of these tools, see the article on Tracking vs Strategy Analysis.
